Contra Costa NOW Scholarship for Fall 2025

Contra Costa County NOW,  a San Francisco Bay Area-chapter of the National Organization for Women, is one of the oldest and most prominent feminist organizations in the US.   Once again, CCC NOW is offering two $1,000 scholarships to 2 women of color who are residents of Contra Costa County, enrolled in an accredited not for profit college or university, in either a two-year or four-year academic program.  We are also looking to support  women who have demonstrated leadership as an activist in their community.  These scholarships reflect our commitment to supporting marginalized women of color in an effort to enable each woman’s pursuit  of an education.  

APPLICATION PERIOD DEADLINE MAY 16, 2025.


ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

  • Permanent residency in Contra Costa County
  • Academic record of at least one prior semester in an accredited non-profit college or university (located in Contra Costa County or other)
  • Enrollment in or transfer to an accredited non-profit college or university for Fall 2025.
  • GPA of 2.75 or higher
  • Copy of official transcript from most recent college or university
  • Digital photo
  • Name and address of academic institution to be attended in Fall 2025
  • One letter of recommendation from someone who can assess your academic and/or personal achievements and community activism, for example, a professor, teacher, mentor, organization member, etc.
  • Essay (500 -1,000 words) typewritten, double spaced in Word or PDF on the applicant’s experiences in some aspect of community activism, providing information about the organizations or communities served or particular volunteer activities.


TIMELINE:

  • The deadline for the Fall 2025 semester is May 16th, 2025.
  • You will be notified by email and regular mail when your application has been received.
  • You will be notified by email and regular mail if your scholarship application has been accepted or denied, no later than June 30th, 2025. If your application has been accepted, the $1,000 funds will be applied directly to your academic institution by August 15th, 2025.
